What is The Quince Orchard Project?
From before the Civil War through the late 1900s, Quince Orchard, Maryland was a place you could find on the map. Originally a poor, small farming town this community was built and preserved by people worth remembering. The investments they made in education, public service and community continue to be the inheritance of each modern day resident. This one racially segregated community intentionally put their differences aside to come together in one of America’s most divided moments. The Quince Orchard Project is an effort to collect and share these stories which remind us that we all have the ability to shape our community. Help us share this story.
